Sex Party Rises Again

The Australian Sex Party was re registered again today by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC). The party had been de registered in May following a much publicised dispute over the way in which party membership numbers were estimated by the AEC.

The party's founders, Fiona Patten MLC and registered officer, Robbie Swan, said the exercise had shown them that AEC staff were a hard working and diligent group of public servants who had been completely hung out to dry by successive federal governments.

"Tax Increase is Not Tax Reform"

Victorian Upper House MP and Federal Leader of the Australian Sex Party Fiona Patten has called for a sensible, “grown up” discussion on tax reform following calls from New South Wales Premier Mike Baird, backed by the Prime Minster, to raise the level of the GST to 15%.

“The idea of increasing or broadening the GST is a debate which this country should have,” said Ms Patten. “All options need to be considered, however I think it is worth noting that simply increasing a tax is not ‘tax reform’ – on that the government is sadly falling behind. Having not even followed through on most of the recommendations of the Henry Tax Review published some five years ago it’s about time this issue was bought to the forefront.”
